As You like It Act-3 Quiz : In Act III of As You Like It, Duke Frederick orders Oliver to find Orlando or lose his property. Orlando, deeply in love, hangs poems for Rosalind on trees. Rosalind, disguised as Ganymede, offers to “cure” Orlandoโ€™s love by having him court her as if she were Rosalind. Meanwhile, Touchstone woos Audrey, planning a quick marriage. Rosalind anxiously waits for Orlando but is distracted by Silviusโ€™ hopeless love for Phebe. When Rosalind scolds Phebe, Phebe ironically falls for “Ganymede” and plans to write a letter. The act highlights loveโ€™s foolishness, mistaken identities, and humorous romantic confusions.

Scene-wise Summary of Act III of As You Like Itย 

Scene Summary
Act III, Scene 1 Duke Frederick orders Oliver to find Orlando within a year or face exile and loss of property. Ironically, he condemns Oliver for not loving his brother, despite his own hatred for Duke Senior. This forces Oliver to enter the Forest of Arden.
Act III, Scene 2 Orlando, deeply in love with Rosalind, hangs love poems on trees in the forest. Touchstone mocks his poetic style. Rosalind (disguised as Ganymede) reads one of Orlando’s poems and, upon learning he is the author, devises a plan. She offers to “cure” Orlandoโ€™s love-sickness by having him pretend Ganymede is Rosalind. Orlando agrees.
Act III, Scene 3 Touchstone woos the dim-witted country girl Audrey and plans to marry her. Jaques observes the absurdity of their courtship. Sir Oliver Martext, a disreputable vicar, arrives to officiate, but Jaques advises a proper marriage elsewhere. Touchstone agrees, intending to leave the marriage easily if needed.
Act III, Scene 4 Rosalind is distressed because Orlando has not shown up for their planned meeting. Celia teases her about Orlandoโ€™s absence, suggesting he is occupied elsewhere. Corin arrives and invites them to witness a love scene between Silvius and Phebe.
Act III, Scene 5 Silvius pleads for Phebeโ€™s love, but she rejects him cruelly. Rosalind (as Ganymede) intervenes, scolding Phebe for her pride. Unexpectedly, Phebe falls for Ganymede. After Rosalind leaves, Phebe decides to write a letter to Ganymede, using Silvius as her messenger.
