Wife's Holiday MCQ Quiz with 20 Questions

Wife’s Holiday MCQ Quiz : “Wife’s Holiday” presents a simple yet meaningful picture of village life and human weakness through the character of Kannan. The story begins with Kannan sitting lazily at the door of his hut, enjoying a rare sense of freedom because his wife has gone to her parents’ house. Normally, she keeps him disciplined and ensures that he works regularly as a coconut tree climber. In her absence, he happily avoids work and dreams of spending time at the Mantapam, where he and his friends gamble by playing dice.

Although Kannan enjoys this temporary freedom, he faces a practical problem—he has no money. He knows that without earning, he cannot even join the game. Instead of going to work, he begins to blame his wife for not leaving him any money. His frustration gradually turns into selfish thinking. In search of money, he opens his wife’s trunk and searches for cash, but finds none.

While searching, he comes across his little son’s savings box—a red cigarette tin carefully filled with coins. The memory of his son’s innocence and dreams briefly softens him, but soon greed takes over. He convinces himself that taking the money is not wrong, as he plans to win more and return it later. After several failed attempts, he finally breaks open the box and takes out six annas.

Kannan goes to the Mantapam with high hopes, but his luck fails him completely. He loses all the money in a short time and is forced to leave. His “holiday” turns into disappointment and regret.

As he returns home, he is shocked to see his wife and son coming back earlier than expected. Fear grips him as he realizes that his wrongdoing will soon be exposed. The situation becomes more painful when his innocent son asks him to put new coins into the same broken box. Kannan feels deep guilt and helplessness but has no escape from the consequences of his actions. [Wife’s Holiday Audiobook]
