RBSE Class 10 Important Stories : If you’re preparing for your RBSE Class 10 English Board Exam 2026, here’s some good news—Story Writing is actually one of the easiest ways to score well. Question Number 4 is about checking if you can think clearly, use your imagination a bit, and write in a way that makes sense.
You will be given an outline—basically the skeleton of a story—and your job is to turn it into a proper short story in around 100 words. Add a title and a moral at the end. The outline already tells you what happens and in what order. You just need to connect the dots.

Their friends advised them to sow seeds in the field. After some time, a good crop grew and they earned a lot of money. Then they understood the real meaning of their father’s words. A Bee and A Dove
It was a hot summer day. A bee was very thirsty. It flew to a canal to drink water. By chance, it fell into the canal. The current was very strong and the bee was carried away by the water. It became helpless. A dove was sitting on the branch of a tree. She saw all this. She decided to save the life of the bee. She dropped a leaf into the water. The bee climbed on it and soon flew away happily. A few minutes later, a hunter came there and aimed at the dove. The bee stung the hunter on his hand. Bad Company
A boy fell into bad company. His father was very sad. He asked his son to leave bad company, but the boy said that it did not harm him. He claimed that he could live with bad boys and still remain good. One day, his father brought some fresh apples and one rotten apple. He asked his son to put them in a basket and keep them together. The next morning, he asked his son to see the apples. The son was shocked to see that all the apples were spoiled. His father explained that bad company spoils good character. The boy realized his mistake and left bad company forever.

One day, the lion was caught in a net and began to roar. The little mouse heard his roar and came there. He cut the strings of the net with his sharp teeth. The lion became free and thanked the mouse for his timely help.
Moral: Kindness is never wasted.

An Honest Woodcutter
A woodcutter was very honest. One day, he went to the woods to cut wood. While working near a river, his axe fell into the water. He became very sad and began to cry. Suddenly, God Mercury appeared before him. He brought out a silver axe, but the woodcutter said it was not his. Then God Mercury brought a golden axe, but the woodcutter again refused it. Finally, he brought an iron axe. The woodcutter accepted it happily. God Mercury was pleased with his honesty and rewarded him with all the three axes.
Moral: Honesty is the best policy.

A hare was very proud of his speed. He laughed at the tortoise for being slow. The tortoise felt insulted and challenged the hare to run a race. The race began. The hare ran very fast and soon left the tortoise far behind. Feeling confident, the hare slept under a tree to take rest. The tortoise went on walking slowly but steadily. After some time, he reached the goal. The hare woke up and ran fast, but it was too late. He lost the race and was shocked. The tortoise won the race.
Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.

A fisherman once caught a big fish. He cut it open and brought it home. To his surprise, he found a gold ring inside the fish. He informed the king’s man about it. The ring had the king’s name written on it. The king’s men thought the fisherman was a thief and arrested him for stealing the ring. He was produced before the king. The fisherman told the whole truth honestly. The king realized his innocence and was pleased with his honesty. He rewarded the fisherman with money and gifts. The fisherman returned home happy and satisfied.
Moral: Honesty is always rewarded.

Once upon a time, there lived a farmer in a certain village. He had four sons. They always quarrelled with one another. He advised them not to quarrel, but it was all in vain. This worried him very much. Soon he fell ill and felt that his end was near. He sent for his sons. When they came, he asked one of them to bring some sticks and tie them into a bundle. He asked his sons to break the bundle, but they failed. Then the farmer untied the bundle and gave one stick to each son. He asked them to break the sticks, which they did easily. The farmer explained that if they remained united like the bundle, no one could harm them. This had the desired effect on them, and they began to live peacefully.
Moral: Union is strength.
