An Adjective Phrase works like an adjective and describes a noun.
Example:

    In both cases, the meaning is the same, but the second uses more words to describe the noun.

2. Adverb Phrases

An Adverb Phrase works like an adverb and modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb.
Example:

  • Rama ran quickly → Rama ran with great speed

Bravely In a brave manner
Recently At a recent date
Abroad In a foreign country

Definition: A group of words doing the work of an adverb.


3. Noun Phrases

A Noun Phrase acts like a noun and may work as the subject or object in a sentence.
Example:

Definition: A group of words doing the work of a noun.

Examples:

  • To win a prize is my ambition.
  • We enjoy playing cricket.
