Past Continuous Tense एक संक्षिप्त परिचय:
Past Continuous Tense का उपयोग उस क्रिया या घटना को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है, जो भूतकाल में किसी विशेष समय पर जारी थी। इस tense का निर्माण करने के लिए ‘was‘ या ‘were‘ सहायक क्रियाओं का उपयोग किया जाता है और मुख्य क्रिया के साथ ‘ing’ जोड़कर वाक्य पूरा किया जाता है।
Past Continuous Tense संरचना (Structure):
सकारात्मक वाक्य (Affirmative Sentence): Subject + was/were + Verb (ing) + Object…….
उदाहरण:
वह किताब पढ़ रहा था।
(He was reading a book.)
बच्चे खेल रहे थे।
(The children were playing.)
नकारात्मक वाक्य (Negative Sentence): Subject + was/were + not + Verb (ing) + Object……..
उदाहरण:
वह सो नहीं रही थी।
(She was not sleeping.)
प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य (Interrogative Sentence): Was/Were + Subject + Verb (ing) + Object……….?
उदाहरण:
क्या तुम काम कर रहे थे?
(Were you working?)
Past Continuous Tense महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु:
1. Past Continuous Tense का उपयोग तब किया जाता है जब हम यह बताना चाहते हैं कि भूतकाल में एक निश्चित समय पर कोई कार्य हो रहा था।
2. Past Continuous Tense का अक्सर तब इस्तेमाल किया जाता है जब एक क्रिया लंबे समय तक चलती रही हो और उसी दौरान कोई दूसरी घटना घटी हो। जैसे:
जब मैं बाहर जा रहा था, बारिश हो रही थी।
(It was raining while I was going outside.)
3. सहायक क्रियाएं: Singular subjects तथा I के साथ ‘was‘ और Plural subjects के साथ ‘were‘ का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
