David Copperfield Chapters 25 to 28 Quiz : David receives a letter from Agnes Wickfield, asking him to meet her. When they meet, David feels ashamed of his careless behaviour at the theatre. Agnes forgives him kindly, and David calls her his โgood angel.โ She warns him about James Steerforth, whom she considers harmful. However, David refuses to doubt his friend and continues to trust him.
Agnes also expresses her growing fear about Uriah Heep, who is gaining control over her fatherโs business. David feels angry and wants to oppose Uriah, but Agnes asks him to remain polite for her fatherโs sake. Later, at a dinner party, David again meets Uriah and feels uneasy because of his strange behaviour. Trying to follow Agnesโs request, David invites him home. During their conversation, Uriah shockingly reveals his desire to marry Agnes, which deeply disturbs David.
Soon after, Agnes leaves for Canterbury, and Uriah travels with her, increasing Davidโs anxiety. At the same time, David begins to feel a slight doubt about Steerforth, though he still values their friendship.
A major turning point comes when David starts working at the law firm of Spenlow and Jorkins. He visits Dora Spenlow, the daughter of his employer, and instantly falls in love with her beauty. His feelings are intense and dreamy, almost making him forget everything else. However, he is surprised to find Miss Murdstone in Doraโs house. They agree to keep their past connection secret. Dora herself dislikes Miss Murdstone and prefers the company of her little dog, Jip. David becomes completely absorbed in his love and even begins dressing elegantly just to impress Dora.
In the next chapters, David visits his old friend Tommy Traddles, who lives in poor conditions but remains hardworking and honest. Traddles shares his struggles and explains how he managed to study law with great difficulty. He is engaged to a girl from a large, modest family, and their engagement is simple and patient.
David is pleased to meet Wilkins Micawber again, who is still hopeful despite his financial troubles. David arranges a dinner with Micawber and Traddles, but the arrival of Littimer, Steerforthโs servant, creates tension and discomfort among them.
Later, Steerforth himself arrives and brings news that Barkis is seriously ill. Though David had begun to doubt him slightly, he feels happy to see his friend again. Steerforthโs words about life and death reveal a cold and selfish attitude. For the first time, David begins to feel that Steerforthโs energy lacks a noble purpose.
