David Copperfield Chapters 41 to 44 Quiz : In these chapters, David’s personal life moves towards marriage, but along with happiness, many signs of future difficulties also begin to appear. David receives a reply from Dora’s aunts, Miss Lavinia and Miss Clarissa Spenlow, allowing him to visit them regarding his wish to marry Dora. Feeling nervous, David takes his loyal friend Tommy Traddles with him. During the journey, Traddles tells David about his own engagement with Sophy and the problems he faced from her family, which increases David’s anxiety.

When they meet the Spenlow sisters, David finds them strict yet amusing. After many questions and discussions, they finally allow him to court Dora. Gradually, Aunt Betsey also becomes friendly with Dora’s aunts, and preparations for the marriage begin peacefully. However, David slowly realizes that Dora is still childish and lacks practical understanding. Whenever he tries to teach her household management, account keeping, or cooking, she becomes upset or starts crying. Dora dislikes serious responsibilities and treats the account books like drawing books by sketching pictures in them. David finally gives up trying to educate her and decides simply to enjoy her loving company.

At the same time, darker events are taking place around Dr. Strong’s house. Uriah Heep secretly tells David that he loves Agnes Wickfield and also spreads suspicion about Annie, Dr. Strong’s young wife. He hints that Annie has an improper relationship with Jack Maldon. Uriah’s poisonous words create tension between Dr. Strong and Annie. David becomes angry at Uriah’s dishonesty and finally slaps him on the face. Yet David cannot completely stop Uriah’s manipulative schemes. Annie suffers silently, and Dr. Strong, though hurt, continues to behave kindly towards her.

Meanwhile, another mystery develops through a letter from Mrs. Micawber. She informs David that Mr. Micawber has become secretive and strange in his behaviour. This creates suspense for future events.

The next chapters focus on David’s marriage and early married life. David is now twenty-one years old and has become successful as a parliamentary reporter and magazine writer. His career improves steadily, but his greatest joy comes from marrying Dora. The wedding takes place with great excitement. Aunt Betsey arranges furniture, Peggotty prepares the house, and Agnes and Sophy serve as bridesmaids. David feels as if the wedding passes like a dream.

Soon after marriage, however, reality replaces romance. Dora proves unable to manage household duties. Servants are careless, meals are badly cooked, and the house remains disorganized. Shopkeepers easily cheat the young couple because of their inexperience. One dinner with Traddles becomes almost comic because of the confusion in the house, the poor food, and Jip the dog creating trouble at the table. Even then, Dora remains sweet and affectionate. Aunt Betsey advises David to accept Dora as she is rather than expecting qualities she does not possess.
